Last month I was given the opportunity to be a volunteer photography in the Not Just Skin Deep – Portraits for Melanoma Awareness initiative. A fellow Guelph photographer, Kelly Gemmell, was diagnosed with melanoma, and when she got the call after treatment she was cancer-free, she decided to fight back. Her goal was to raise $10,000 in one day to donate to the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund. And guess what? It happened! Yep, over 20 photographers shot over 100 families on May 26th, and the entire session fee of $100 was donated. The collective effort allowed the entire $10,000 to be donated! Kelly did a fantastic job organizing the event. I would definitely volunteer again in a heartbeat.
I got to photograph 5 super awesome groups of families and friends. First up, a lovely group of longtime friends (aka. The Dream Team).
